Canarian designer Paloma Suárez’s latest collection ‘23’ is named after her lucky number and explores numerology from a personal perspective. The pieces are inspired by the good times that have accompanied this number, with a bright colour palette of lime greens, vibrant yellows and pinks, purples, statement blues and bold reds. Textures take centre stage, with new fabrics such as virgin wool, cashmere, houndstooth and vegan leather, in addition to vinyl, sequins, tulle and feathers. Oversized silhouettes are juxtaposed by refined lines in androgynous suits, asymmetrical cut-out gowns and fabulous miniskirts paired with metallic knee-high boots.
The collection also shows off Suárez’s recently launched menswear line. And thanks to the label’s strong sustainable principles, pieces can be altered to suit either men or women. In fact sustainability and Slow Fashion are central to the Paloma Suárez philosophy. Committed to authentic craftsmanship, sustainable textile experimentation, and transparency in the work process, collections are manufactured in a responsible, sustainable and ethical way. Each piece is also made on request only, which not only ensures exclusivity, but also eliminates waste products ending up in landfill.
