The socks thing, with Marlene Meneses y María Doménech.
Are white high socks or socks with shoes a trand, and if so with which shoes?
Between journalists, we talked about it. And this wonderful talk made me reflect on the fact that when we get used to seeing something, we become accustomed to it, it no longer surprises us. Does it therefore cease to be a trend?
After the pandemic, the truth is that I find it harder and harder to get into heels to go to a fashion shows or any other event. I don't think I'm the only one. There are more and more influencers who are also opting for comfort in their everyday life: with low shoes, sneakers... but, as I was asked in the interview: Wearing socks with heels or sandals, how do you see it?
Well, it's nothing new, really. In the '70s it was already the most fashionable thing to do. For example, wearing Mary Janes with socks. It's true that, with clogs or jellies, wearing socks becomes a bit more "slippery", because of the material they're mostly made of (plastic), but there are other much more comfortable and environmentally friendly materials that make it a very comfortable experience for your feet.
But returning to the subject of socks, and I shared it in our talk, Balenciaga came to my mind and the concept that "everything that is abnormal, is fashion"; if we add to this the comfort (which is here to stay) that we enjoy in our outfits learnt during the pandemic, we should not be so surprised by the combinations of shoes and high & white socks.
María Doménech also commented that in recent years we perhaps feel more "liberated" to take fashion more in line with our own criteria and style, and I agree with her. Above all, because through social media: we consume so much content that rarely does anything we see surprise us. That doesn't make it less topical or trendy, it's just that we are increasingly personalising and enriching our personal style with greater freedom.
And how do you see it? Do you adapt trends to your personal style or do you already have a style that works for you and that you don't give up at all?
Maybe, with this talk, you are considering adding a new touch or refreshing your style. I'm telling you, do it! And let me know on social media if you liked this talk and if it gave you any ideas for your next look.
